“I’ll move up to No. 1 after becoming champion”
Seung Min Lee will challenge for the No. 1 spot in the World Para Golf Ranking.
Professional golfer Seung Min Lee, who has juvenile diabetes, will compete in the third annual U.S. Adaptive Open at Sand Creek Station GC in Newton, Kansas, from August 8-10. This will be his third time competing in the event, where he finished runner-up last year after being crowned the inaugural champion.
As a challenger, Lee will be looking to defend his title and climb to the top of the World Para Golf World Ranking (WR4GD). Lee is currently ranked second (25.9300). He is just 3.1763 points behind leader Kip Poppert (29.1063). Kip Poppert was the winner of last year’s US Adaptive Open.
Lee has put in a lot of hard work to get here. After making the cut at his first event in 2024, the KPGA Founders Cup with Hanmac CC, he went on to take first place in the European Para Golf Association’s (EDGA) Glyco Para Golf Championship and the Grand Prix Para Open in Japan.
Before the tournament, Lee said, “At the US Adaptive Open in 2023, I didn’t play confidently because I thought I had to defend my title, and I made a lot of mistakes. I regretted it and prepared a lot during the winter training. I increased my distance, spent a lot of time 온라인카지노사이트 working on my short game, and did a lot of physical training. I regained my confidence. I’m going to do what I practiced,” he said.
As for the rematch with Kip Poppert, he said, “I’m determined to get back the title that I lost.”
The third annual U.S. Adaptive Open is organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA), the same organization that produces the U.S. Open, and will feature 96 male and female golfers from 11 countries, including the United States. This year, qualifiers were held in six U.S. states to select the 96 golfers.
Lee will be playing alongside Wayne Madsen (USA), Ryan Matthews (USA), and Cassandra Sengle (USA). They will tee off at 11:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 8.
During the tournament, Lee also participated in a volunteer program to promote Operation Smile Korea. He wore the OSK logo on his shirt collar to help spread the word about the organization. Operation Smile Korea is a private organization in Korea that provides cleft lip and palate surgery and treatment for children from vulnerable families, multicultural families, and foreign worker families in Korea, as well as overseas children, and its international headquarters is located in Virginia, USA.
