Former IOC Vice Chairman Kim Un-yong, a ‘Korean sports giant’, passed away
Kim Un-yong, former vice chairman of the International Olympic Committee and IOC, a “great figure in Korean sports,” died of old age this morning.
He is 86 years old.
Former Vice Chairman Kim was hospitalized at Severance Hospital in Seoul yesterday due to his poor physical condition and died early this morning, the deceased said.
The deceased served as IOC member and vice chairman of the International Olympic Committee, president of the Korea Sports Council, the 16th National Assembly member, and president of the Korea Taekwondo Association, leading the globalization of Taekwondo, including the adoption of Olympic events.
