Klinsmann’s men’s soccer team is on an “upward curve” following back-to-back victories over Tunisia and Vietnam.

According to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) rankings released on Sept. 26 (KST), the South Korean men’s national soccer team is ranked 24th (1540.35 ranking points), up two spots from September.

The national team defeated Tunisia and Vietnam 4-0 and 6-0, respectively, in A-match trials on Sept. 13 and 17.

On July 13, the team beat Saudi Arabia 1-0.


Since Klinsmann’s arrival in March this year, the team has overcome an early-season slump to win three games and draw two.

Argentina (1861.29 points), France (1853.11 points), Brazil (1812.2 points), England (1807.88 points) and Belgium (1793.71 points) remain unchanged in the top five.

Among Asian Football Confederation (AFC) nations, Japan is the biggest winner, moving from 19th to 18th (1612.99 points).

Japan defeated Canada and Tunisia 4-1 and 2-0, respectively, during their October A matches.

Iran (21st – 1567.3 points), South Korea, Australia (27th – 1531.25 points), and Saudi Arabia (57th – 1408.85 points) follow.
