The men’s professional basketball regular season has come to a close, with a wealth of records highlighting the season.
The 2023-2024 regular season came to an end with the final games of the 2023-2024 Chungkwanjang Pro Basketball League held at five venues in Wonju, Changwon, Goyang, Busan, and Ulsan on Nov. 31.
The KBL released the season wrap-up data after the final game of the regular season.
The top individual records in each category this season are as follows.
The top scorer was Paris Bass (Suwon KT). Bass totaled 1,371 points in 54 games, averaging 25.4 points per game.
The top rebounder was Asem Marey (Changwon LG). Marei grabbed 575 rebounds in 40 games, averaging 14.4 rebounds per game.
Lee Jung-hyun (Goyang Sono) won the assists, steals, and 3-pointers made trifecta. Lee dished out 291 assists in 44 games, averaging 6.61 assists per game. He also had 87 steals, averaging 2.0 steals per game, and made 129 three-pointers, averaging 2.9 three-pointers per game.
The blocked shots award went to Duvan Maxwell (Daegu KOGAS). Maxwell averaged 1.3 blocks per game with 68 blocks in 53 games.
Ragan Ah (Busan KCC) was also the top accumulator. Ragan-ah became the second player in history to reach 11,000 points on Jan. 29 against Anyang Jeonggwanjang. On March 22, he became the second player in LG Electronics history to reach 700 blocks.
Kim Jong-kyu (Wonju DB) became the 14th player in history to reach 3,000 rebounds, while Lee Jae-do (LG) became the 20th player in history to reach 2,000 assists.
Jamil Warney (Seoul SK), Lee Jae-do and Heo Woong (KCC) each surpassed the 5,000-point mark. Song Ch’ang-yong (SK), Lee Kwan-hee (LG), Choi Buk-kyung, Oh Se-geun, and Leon Williams (all SK) also reached 500 games played.
And let’s not forget about head coaches. On January 18, Cho Dong-hyun won his 100th career win against SK, and on February 10, Jeon Hee-chul reached the 100-win plateau against 안전놀이터 Jeonggwanjang.
The number of spectators has also increased, signaling the arrival of spring basketball. Last season, a total of 599,572 spectators visited the basketball court, compared to 738,420 this season, an increase of 23.2%. The All-Star Game also saw a 67.8% increase in attendance, from 3325 to 5581 fans last year.
Meanwhile, the month-long spring basketball season will begin on April 4 with the best-of-six playoffs. The quarterfinals will pit No. 4 SK against No. 5 KCC and No. 3 KT against No. 6 Hyundai Mobis. The winner of SK and KCC will face DB, while the winner of KT and Hyundai Mobis will face LG in the best-of-four playoffs. The winners of the quarterfinal playoffs will play for the championship in the championship match on the 27th.
