Samsung head coach Park Jin-man singled out trade acquisition Ryu Ji-hyuk as the player who helped the Lions end their five-game losing streak against Doosan.

The Samsung Lions won the 10th game of the season against the Doosan Bears of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League 6-4 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on September 9. The result avenged the previous day’s loss and snapped a two-game losing streak and a five-game losing streak against Doosan, improving their record to 40 wins, one draw and 56 points on the season.

The game was tied at 3-3 in the ninth inning. Ryu Ji-hyeok drew a walk and stole second, and Jose Pirela followed with an infield single to put runners on first and third. With runners on second and third, Kang Kang-ul hit an infield single and second baseman Lee Yoo-chan’s throwing error at home plate gave Samsung a 5-3 lead.

Samsung didn’t stop there. Kim Dong-jin singled and Kim Hyun-jun followed with an RBI single to drive in the winning run. Reliever Oh Seung-hwan came on in the ninth inning and gave up a run, but finished the game without allowing the tying run to score to record his 16th save of the season.

“The starting pitcher Won Tae-in did his job and we were able to turn the tide of the game in the second half,” said Samsung manager Park Jin-man after the game. “In the batting order, we were frustrated by the opponent’s starting lineup in the first half of the game, but we showed our focus in the second half to end the losing streak. Our center fielder, Pirela, has been hitting well and I’m looking forward to seeing more of him in the future. Finally, I think Ryu Ji-hyuk’s stolen base in the ninth inning decided the game. I want to praise him for both his reading of the game and his boldness.”

Samsung will try to win the best-of-three series with ace David Buchanan on Tuesday. Doosan will call on Kim Dong-ju. 토토사이트
