The National Winter Sports Festival dates back to the ‘All Joseon Ice Skating Competition’ held at a special rink on the Han River in 1920. After liberation, in January 1946, ice (speed) and ice hockey (ice hockey) games were held at a special rink on the Han River under the name of ‘Liberation Celebration Sports Competition Winter Games’.
In February 1947, a winter ski competition was held at the Nogodan Slope of Jiri Mountain. With the opening of Taereung International Skating Rink in 1972 and Yongpyeong Ski Resort in 1981, the Winter Sports Festival also took on a modern appearance.
Currently, it has increased to 8 sports, including ice skating (speed, short track, figure), skiing (alpine, cross-country, snowboarding), ice hockey, biathlon, curling, bobsleigh skeleton (start), mountaineering (ice climbing), and luge. We have collected the 스포츠토토존 history of the Winter Sports Festival.
