On Wednesday, iGaming Ontario said one of its recently approved operators, Bali Bet, has launched services in the province. The company’s online casino app is now integrated into the province’s digital gaming market for private operators and can play games for Ontario people. However, sportsbook offerings are not yet accessible.

Ontario’s regulated online sports betting and gaming market became a reality on April 4, 2022 after years of hard work in the state. Regulated by Ontario’s Alcohol and Gaming Commission and its subsidiary iGaming Ontario, the commission has so far given approval to numerous large and small-name operators and websites, with many more underway.

On Wednesday, iGaming Ontario announced that Bali’s company is currently offering online games in the provinces live through the company’s Bali Bet app. The company is currently a licensed and regulated operator operating in the provinces. Ontario people can now play blackjacks, roulette, and slots. However, local betting companies currently have access to sports betting services.

Currently, Ballybet is integrated into numerous U.S. jurisdictions, including New York, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Indiana, and Virginia, where online sportsbooks are available. But this is because some of those markets are offering only mobile sports betting, and iGaming is not yet legalized. However, in Ontario, both of these options are allowed.

As of Thursday, July 21, 2022, there were 19 operators operating more than 30 gambling sites and apps in the new iGaming model in Ontario’s private operator market. In addition to Ontario, Bali Bet recently made its long-awaited debut in New York State and the mobile sports betting market. This is the only company out of nine that has not yet been released.

The betting company has not explained why sports betting verticals are not available in Ontario since Thursday’s launch. However, the gaming giant has been quite busy with other issues, as it recently rejected an offer from one of its largest shareholders to buy as a whole. Media coverage of sports betting options is expected soon.

Despite many of the positives, Ontario’s new iGaming and sports betting markets have one major flaw, which local betting companies have recently begun taking advantage of. According to AGCO, local gamblers have found a loophole in the market’s self-exclude feature, which allows them to avoid lost bets by enrolling in the program and cancelling their bets without loss.

This is possible because the voluntary exclusion program locks customers’ betting accounts for a period of time, then cancels all pending bets or future game transactions and facilitates the return of the balance of unused funds. The loophole is a major concern for emerging markets, and regulators have informed us that they are currently working to find a solution.
