The Spain women’s national soccer team has been crowned the inaugural UEFA Women’s Nations League (UWNL) champions.

Spain won the 2023-2024 UWNL final 2-0 against France at the Estadio de la Cartuja in Seville, Spain, on Monday (Sept. 29).

Spain, which won the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, continued its dominance of the Nations League to remain atop the FIFA rankings.

The Spaniards have also qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in July and will be among the favorites to win the tournament.

France, ranked No. 3 in the FIFA rankings, were unbeaten in their all-time series against Spain with 10 wins and three draws, but the loss denied them a chance to win their first major tournament.

Spain opened the scoring in the 32nd minute.

Aitana Bonmati opened the scoring.

Mariona Caldentei added a goal eight minutes into the second half to seal the win for Spain.

Bonmati, who won the Golden Ball at last year’s Women’s World Cup and the Ballon d’Or in October, was also awarded the UWNL Finals (semifinals to final) 스포츠토토 Most Valuable Player trophy.

Earlier in the day, Germany clinched third place with a 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in the third-place game in Heerenveen, Netherlands.

Germany qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris.

With France no longer hosting the tournament, the UWNL was given two Olympic berths.

With France reaching the final, the third spot was up for grabs, and Germany will be competing in Paris.
