Guangdong Group, a Macau-based junket operator, confirmed to GGRAsia that it is now expanding its VIP gaming service to Naga 2 (pictured), the latest operating casino at the Naga World complex in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The property is facilitated by NagaKov Inc., which is listed in Hong Kong.
In a written response to GGRAsia, the junket company said it would partner with other investors at Naga 2, which has 10 game tables, and begin trial phases from “early January” for its newly launched service.
Guangdong Group currently operates 13 VIP gaming clubs in Macau, and has seen a “sharp expansion” in gaming services overseas, the company’s chief executive Flora Fu told us in a written commentary.
“The group’s services have expanded to the Philippines, Jeju, Cambodia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other destinations in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe. We will continue to actively explore additional potential partnerships with casino operators and partners to increase the group’s share of revenue from overseas markets,” said Fu.
Naga Corp. runs the NagaWorld Complex and has the only license to operate casinos in and around the capital Phnom Penh. It began operations with the NagaWorld property, which opened in December 2006. The property is connected to Naga 2, an extension that opened in November 2017.
Macau junket operator Suncity Group opened a VIP facility in Naga 2 in the first quarter of 2018, saying it was one of Macau’s major VIP gambling organizations by investment analysts.
Nagakov said in a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in October that the group’s gaming gross sales (GGR) was expected to top $1.07 billion in the first nine months of 2018, helped by the opening of the Nagar2 extension. The Hong Kong-listed company said at the time that its bulk market purchases rose 57% year-on-year to $887.63 million in the first nine months of 2018, while its rolling chip sales in the VIP table gaming division rose 128% to more than $25.03 billion.
