Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani (30) has reached the 30-homer plateau for the fourth consecutive year.

Ohtani, batting first and designated hitter for the visiting Boston Red Sox in the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) Baseball World Series (MLB) at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, U.S., on Wednesday (June 22), hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Dodgers a 5-2 lead.

He took a four-pitch cut fastball up the middle off Boston starter Cooter Crawford and launched it over the wall for a massive 144-meter arch.

The home run gave Ohtani 30 homers this season and kept him atop the National League home run leaderboard.

He is two behind second-place Marcell Ozuna (28, Atlanta Braves).

Ohtani hit 46 home runs in 2021 to reach the 30-homer plateau for the first time in his MLB career, followed by 34 in 2022 and 44 in 2023.

In the U.S., Ohtani’s home run distance has been the center of attention.

“Ohtani has hit seven big home runs of 450 feet (137 meters) or more this season, the most of any player this season,” MLB.com said.

“Ohtani has hit three of the five longest home runs at Dodger Stadium since 2015, the year the home run distance program was introduced,” MLB.com added.

Ohtani finished the day 1-for-3 with one double, one home run, one walk, one RBI and one run scored, raising his season batting average to .315.

Ohtani is second in the National League in batting average, trailing only the Milwaukee Brewers’ Christian Yelich (.320).

He is first in runs scored (78) and slugging percentage (.638), and third in RBI (70) and on-base percentage (.401).

The Dodgers won 9-6 to extend their winning streak to three games and take sole possession of first place in the National League West.

They are eight games behind the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks. 바카라사이트
