The Hong Kong Cheng family, which is connected to the Vietnamese casino complex Hoana Resort & Golf (pictured), has “acquired” routine property management from LET Group Holdings, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
LET Group Holdings, a Hong Kong-listed casino investor, was previously known as Suncity Group Holdings Ltd and was responsible for the operations of the Hoiana resort. LET Group was previously led by Alvin Chau Cho Check Wa, a former Macao junket boss, and was sentenced in January to a total of 18 years in prison.
LET Group was not involved in managing Hoiana properties, and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Ltd is currently overseeing the resort’s operations, according to Bloomberg’s sources.
Chow Tai Fook Enterprises establishes and operates Chow Tai Fook Jewelry Group Ltd and New World Development Co Ltd, with stakes in other casino projects. The latter is a Hong Kong-listed conglomerate with a focus on real estate development, infrastructure, and services.
Hoiana Resort, a joint venture between Chautai Phuk and LET Group and Vietnam-based investment management firm Vina Capital, has a foreigner-only casino, golf course and several hotels.
The Hoana complex currently has four lodging options. They include the Hoana Hotel & Suites, the Hoana Residence, and the New World Hoana Hotel. The fourth, the 330-room New World Hoana Beach Resort, opened in late April.
Rosewood Hoi An, a Rosewood-branded hotel, will open in GGRAsia in May in “2024.”
Shinsegae and Rosewood are the accommodation brands of the Hong Kong-based Rosewood Hotel Group, each run by the Cheng family.
In March, a company called Let’s Win Group held a “grand opening ceremony” for a game club at Hoana Resort & Golf. The Let’s Win Group’s overall business portfolio, identified as an “international tour operator” (ITO), included “luxury travel services” and game operations.
