‘Fierce’ 9th win in a row… NC surpasses PS record for longest winning streak

NC Dinos, fresh off a loss, will attempt to break the record for the longest winning streak in the postseason (PS) in Game 3 of the KBO Playoffs (PO-5).

NC defeated KT Wiz 3-2 in Game 2 of the ‘2023 Shinhan Bank Shootout KBO PO’ at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on 31 March.

With the win, NC extended its PS winning streak to nine games, tying the longest winning streak in autumn baseball, which was achieved by the Haetae Tigers from 1987-1988. 먹튀검증 Haetae won all nine games from Game 4 of the 1987 playoffs to Game 3 of the 1988 Korean Series.

After winning the 2020 regular season title and advancing directly to the Korean Series (KS-7 best-of-4), NC trailed the Doosan Bears 2-1 in the series until Game 3. However, the team won Games 4-6 to claim its first overall title.

In the PS, NC has been on an unstoppable run, winning six straight games. After finishing fourth in the regular season this year and starting autumn baseball in the wild-card decider against fifth-ranked Doosan, NC didn’t drop a single game in the six-game series until the second round of the PO. After sweeping Doosan, they overcame a power deficit to win three straight games against the third-place SSG Landers and swept a two-game series against second-place KT.

After the second game of the POs, NC head coach Kang In-hwa said, “We don’t put much importance on tying the PS record for most consecutive wins. We’ve won nine games in a row, one game at a time. We will do our best to continue the record.”

NC will aim to set a new record for the longest winning streak in the PS when they clinch a spot in the KS in the third round of the POs on the 2nd at NC Park in Changwon. They have a golden opportunity to reach the KS stage for the first time in three years since 2020.

The starting mound will be guarded by foreign pitcher Tanner Tully. After joining the NC as a replacement foreign player in August, Tanner went 5-2 with a 2.92 ERA in 11 games.

Although he struggled in Game 2 of the PS, giving up 10 runs on 12 hits (2 HRs) and 6 walks in 6 innings, he had a strong outing against KT in the regular season. He struck out eight and allowed only two runs in the sixth inning.

The rejuvenated NC bat is once again aimed at the KT mound. PS Unleashed eight cannons, including a home run in all six games.

Park Gun-woo, who hit the game-winning home run in Game 2 of the PO, has been the focal point of the offence, while Son Ah-seop and Park Min-woo, who have established themselves as table-setters (1-2 hitters), are batting .333 and .346 respectively. Seo Ho-cheol, who has nine RBIs in autumn baseball, leads the bottom of the order.
