The Texas Rangers have won the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series for the first time in their 62-year history.

Texas defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game 5 of the best-of-seven World Series (WS-7) on Sunday at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

After tying the series 1-1 and sweeping Games 3 through 5 at Arizona’s home field, Chase Field, Texas finally reached the pinnacle of the World Series after 62 years in the big leagues and 63 seasons of play since the team broke into the big leagues as the Washington Senators in 1961.

After moving to their current home of Arlington, Texas, in 1972 and changing their name, Texas won back-to-back American League titles in 2010 and 2011 and came up short in the World Series before toasting to a third attempt.

Arizona, which was trying to win its second World Series title in 22 years since 2001, when Byung-hyun Kim was playing, fizzled out and fell just short of the summit.

Famous to Korean fans for having played for Korean players such as Park Chan-ho, Choo Shin-soo, and Yang Hyun-jong, the Texas Rangers set a major league record for the longest road winning streak in baseball this postseason, winning 11 straight games en route to the World Series, including the Wild Card Series (three games to two), Division Series (five games to three), and League Championship Series (seven games to four).

Texas also set the record for the most consecutive games of team home runs in a single postseason (16).

With Texas’ victory, only five major league teams remain without a World Series title: the San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies, and Tampa Bay Rays.

Texas second baseman Corey Seager, who hit three home runs and drove in six runs in the World Series, including a dramatic two-run arch in the ninth inning of Game 1 to set the stage for a come-from-behind win, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Seager, who was named World Series MVP for the second time in his career after being named in 2020 while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers, joins legends as only the fourth player in history to be named World Series MVP twice, joining one of the greatest left-handed pitchers of all time, Sandy Koufax, hard-throwing Bob Gibson, and Reggie “Mr. Oktober” Jackson.

Seager has 19 homers and 48 RBIs in 78 postseason games, nearly matching Jackson (18 homers-48 RBIs in 77 games), who has become one of the game’s most potent fixers in the fall.

Bruce Bochy, returning to the active roster after a four-year absence, won his fourth World Series title with Texas, joining the ranks of the greatest managers of all time after winning in 2010, 온라인카지노 2012, and 2014 while leading the San Francisco Giants.

With the game on the line, the Texas offense, which had been held hitless by Arizona starter Zach Gallon, had one chance in the top of the seventh.

Seager, the leadoff hitter, lined a single to left to end Gallon’s no-hitter.

With the infielders scrambling to their right to stop the pulling lefty, Seager rolled a ball toward an empty third base for the hit.

With the seal broken, Evan Carter opened the scoring in a flash with a double to right-center field.

Mitch Garber followed with a single up the middle to bring home Seager to break the scoreless tie.

Texas answered Arizona’s white flag in the top of the ninth with a 1-0 lead.

Back-to-back singles by Josh Young and Nathaniel Law put runners on first and second with no outs when Jonah Heim’s single was misplayed by Arizona center fielder Alec Thomas, putting two runners on base and Heim at third.

Two batters later, Marcus Simeon hit a game-winning double to left-center field.

Texas used its explosive offense and solid mound play to pull off the victory, even after Adolis Garcia, who hit the game-tying home run in Game 1, left just before Game 4 with side pain and three-time Cy Young Award-winning right-hander Max Scherzer went down with a sore back.

Left-handed reliever Will Smith became the lucky man to win three consecutive championship rings with three different teams: the Atlanta Braves in 2021, the Houston Astros in 2022 and Texas in 2023.

Arizona had runners on second and third with one out in the third inning after a single, walk and sacrifice bunt, but Christian Walker struck out and Tommy Pham grounded out to shortstop.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, after two walks and a hit by pitch from Texas starter Nathan Ivaldi, the bases were loaded when Lourdes Gurriel Jr. touched Ivaldi’s first pitch and retired him on a grounder to shortstop.

Arizona, which had plenty of chances with five hits and six walks, went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position to seal the loss.

Right-hander Merrill Kelly, who was exported to the MLB from the KBO, picked up the win in game two to give Arizona its only victory. 카지노사이트 순위
