David Buchanan, who was the foreign ace of the Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization until last year, struggled in his first minor league start.

After declining Samsung’s offer to re-sign him, Buchanan signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies that included an invitation to major league spring training. In four starts, he went winless and struggled to a 5.63 ERA and began the season in the minors.

Buchanan, pitching for the Philadelphia-affiliated Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, gave up five runs on six hits (one home run) and four walks with two strikeouts in four innings against the Boston Red Sox-affiliated Triple-A Worcester Red Sox at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, 스포츠토토 Pennsylvania, on Monday.

The IronPigs fell to 2-6 and Buchanan took the loss.

Buchanan has pitched in 113 games for Samsung over four years, starting in 2020, compiling a 54-28 record with a 3.02 ERA. In his rookie year, Buchanan went 15-7 with a 3.45 ERA to tie the franchise record for most wins by a foreign pitcher, ending a long-standing foreign pitching atrocity. In 2021, he went 16-5 with a 3.10 ERA, tying for the most wins in his career.

In 2022, he was sidelined for about a month with a finger injury, but went 11-8 for his third straight year of double-digit wins. Last year, he also went 12-8 and was the top foreign starter. A reliable ace on the mound, he was also well-received in the dugout as a mood setter and mentor to younger pitchers. His fan service is second to none.

Samsung continued to negotiate with Buchanan, 메이저 토토사이트 but with a full salary cap, the team was unable to meet his terms and ended his four-year run.

The team used Connor Seabold and Danny Reyes to form a one-two punch of foreigners this season. Seabold seemed to have settled into the starting lineup with a quality start in his first appearance of the season, but he fell apart in a three-game weekend series against SSG, raising concerns.

Samsung is considering Buchanan as a backup in case Connor or Reyes struggles. But even Buchanan has had a shaky start to the season.
