Suwon Samsung head coach Byun Sung-hwan was disappointed with the draw.
Suwon drew 0-0 with Chungbuk Cheongju in the 23rd round of the Hana Bank K League 2 2024 on Tuesday at Suwon World Cup Stadium.
With the one point, Suwon is in fifth place with 30 points. They have the same number of points as Gimpo FC 토토사이트 but are ahead on goal difference.
After the game, Byun said, “It was an important game. Our preparation was good, our will was good, and we were confident that we would win, but we didn’t win,” Byun said, adding, ”It’s not good in terms of the flow of the game and many aspects.”
Suwon had 67 percent of the possession and more than twice as much time on the ball as their opponents, but were held scoreless. They also had only nine shots on goal. Goals by Mulich in the first half and Park Seung-soo in the second half were disallowed after VAR review.
“We need to be more precise,” Byun said. It’s disappointing in many ways. There are some things we lacked and some personal regrets. I felt uncomfortable on the bench,” he said, adding, ”There are scenes where goals are disallowed after scoring. It’s scary to score. I think I need to score without any problems after VAR,” he said.
Since Byun’s appointment, Suwon has won two and drawn five in seven K League 2 matches. While they have lost, they have also drawn a lot.
“It’s better to draw than to lose,” Byun said. But in our situation, we also need to win. We are very disappointed today. We have another game right away, so we will share what we lacked today and find a way to score.”
Suwon’s goal is to return to the top flight. For now, they have a long way to go.
“We’ve set up a hypothetical scenario to manage points,” Byun said. It’s not impossible to chase down the top spot, but it’s difficult. We are preparing with that goal in mind,” he says, adding that they will play until the end to win promotion.
“We tried to challenge them, but they were strong,” said Choi Yoon-gyeom, head coach of Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, who sits in ninth place with 29 points after picking up a point in enemy territory. I think Suwon’s will to win was stronger than our players because of the passionate power of the home fans. We were outplayed. Nevertheless, I’m satisfied that we got a point against a strong team. We’re not far behind yet, so we’ll keep going until the end.”
