The Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization have won four straight games.

Samsung Lions rode a strong pitching performance to a 1-0 victory over the Hanwha Eagles in the 2024 Shinhan SolBank KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea, on Sunday.

Samsung, which has won four straight games, including all three against Hanwha, remains in sole possession of third place with 32 wins, one draw and 25 losses.

Hanwha, which lost its third straight, fell to 24 wins, one draw and 32 losses.

The game was scoreless until the eighth inning as both starting pitchers pitched well.

Samsung starter Connor Seabold pitched six and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two while allowing six hits and four walks.

Moon Dong-ju also pitched a scoreless inning. He held the Samsung bats scoreless over seven innings while allowing six hits and three walks. He struck out seven.

Hanwha put runners on second and third with two singles in the top of the first inning, but couldn’t capitalize.

With the two wins in the three-game series against KIA, KT improved to 26 wins, one draw and 31 losses. They remain in seventh place in the standings.

KT starter William Cuevas kept his no-hitter alive until the fifth inning, shutting out the KIA bats for seven innings, allowing just two hits and one walk. He struck out five.

Cuevas picked up his fourth win of the season (5-0) with the shutout.

KT’s bats pounded out 12 hits, including three home runs, to pound the KIA mound.

Kang Baek-ho, batting in the No. 3 spot, went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, three RBIs and two runs batted in, including a three-run blast in the first inning.

Moon Sang-chul was 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBIs, including a grand slam in the fourth inning, as the No. 4 hitter. He was one triple short of a cycle hit.

Kia starter Yoon Young-cheol allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits (one home run) in 2 1/3 innings and suffered his third loss of the season (4 wins).

KT scored three runs in the first inning to take control of the game.

KT extended its lead to 9-0 in the top of the seventh inning when Oh Jae-il hit a towering solo arch (his fourth of the season) with the bases loaded. It was the first home run for Oh, who was traded from Samsung to KT on May 28.

Kia scored two runs in the eighth inning, but KT answered in the top of the ninth with runners on first and second, scoring two runs on a double to right field by Choi Jae-dae and a sacrifice fly by Oh Yoon-seok.

The Lotte Giants won 13-4 against the NC Dinos at Sajik Stadium.

In the bottom of the sixth, Victor Reyes singled, Lee Jung-hoon walked, and Na Seung-yeop singled to load the bases. Choi Hang struck out to load the bases, but Kim Min-seok lined a double to center field.

After back-to-back singles by Hwang Sung-bin and Park Seung-wook loaded the bases again, Go Seung-min hit his third home run of the season over the right field wall to make it 12-4. It was the first grand slam of his professional debut.

LOTTE added one more run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Kim Dong-hyuk’s RBI single to right-center field.
